wisconsin winters are no joke, people!  i made a big batch of banana bread last week and shared some with a friend that needed a little sunshine. i couldn't very well just leave a loaf of bread on her steps! i spruced it up with a few things i had in my studio . . .

henry became a big brother {again} last week. his dad and bonus mom welcomed OTTO WILLIAM into this world! every little guy {and gal} needs their own stationery, right?

recently a friend of mine asked me about interior decorating . . . i told her i don't know anything about it other than my own philosophy: i decorate from the heart! i don't hang or display anything in my house that doesn't mean something to me. as i was looking, i realized that the things that mean the most are my mini collections. 

my cameras . . . several of them belonged to my grandparents and a few i picked up at a flea market while on our rv adventure. i love that my friend, jamie, captured cleo "taking pictures."

these glass boxes (made by a friend) hold so much family history. i spy my great great grandma's view finder, my parents at prom, my grandma's birthday book, sand dollars that henry found for me, my mom's first birthday candle holder, her playing cards, my dad's baby book, hankies . . .

one of my very favorite collections . . . it's my version of a family tree for my kiddos.  

{when the color is bluck, b&w is always my fix} their great grandparents, great aunts and uncles, grandparents and kev, ben and me all have a place on this wall!

ok this is a favorite too! i have two columns on each side of my sink that display my  great-grandma's salt and pepper shaker collection. 

when we were designing my kitchen i knew that i wanted a special place for the salt and pepper shakers and my fiestaware  . . . 

i think this is an interesting collection. these belonged to my grandpa who was in the turkey biz. i don't know much about them other than they were wing labels/clips used in butcher shops to let customers know what farm the turkey's came from . . .

vintage valentine's day cards

with valentine's day right around the corner i wanted to share a couple cards from my collection

1. a valentine my mom gave her grandparents

2. a die cut valentine that was given to my grandpa from his teacher

3. still friends with her after all these years

4. i love seeing my mom's hand writing from when she was a child 

and the sweet little illustration she included

5. my mom had a very special relationship with her grandma

Happy Monday

a couple months ago a fellow stationery seller on Etsy suggested I tell people about the picture that I plaster  on everything {facebook, blog, business cards, packaging} and then just last week a customer emailed me this: "I love, love, love your business cards-- great design!" . . .  when I told her the story behind the picture she said she loved them even more! 

I would like to introduce you to my grandma Hallie and her sister Margie. I wish i knew the story behind the picture . . . are they in their bra and undies or swimsuits? not sure!

My mom thinks my grandma would get a big kick out of me using this picture . . . hope so!

i found these sweet little playing cards . . . with a little help from the print shop {laminating} and my handy dandy glue gun we now have some super cute magnets . . . the little gal of the house thinks they are pretty fun too!

For the Love of Vintage Photos

Old family photos . . . one of my very favorite things.   I recently created these custom cards for Dani.   Each card features a different photo of her great grandmother layered over family names.  Such a perfect way to honor a special lady.  I am now working on a similar project for Cleo's room.  Thank you for the inspiration, Dani!
