ADVENT

When Henry was a little boy I did the whole Advent Calendar with the fun little toys, money, candy and whatever else I could stuff into those little doors! But then he turned into a little ass about it (I didn't want more candy, I already have this car . . .) It left me feeling sad and defeated! And Henry was missing the point of the season.

Along came Cleo and I didn't even start with the little doors. I went the storybook route instead. Thank you to whomever came up with this great idea! She LOVES it! We cycle through some of the same books every year, but I also try and add some new ones every year too! Our collection includes some Christian based stories, classics and popular characters. Garage sales are the prefect place to get Christmas books. And this year I found some fun ones at Home Goods! You can find them at Amazon too!

White Snow, Bright Snow
Little House Christmas Treasury
The Day Santa Stopped Believing in Harold
How Do Dinosaurs Say Merry Christmas

I try and wrap them a bit differently every year. This year I used butcher paper (I have a HUGE roll from a restaurant supply store) and I created these fun tags from artwork I purchased here.  You can download the tags for FREE!

I think they could be used for all sorts of Advent ideas . . .  write notes to friends and family (#snailmailrules), list a different service project on each tag, porch fairy  . . . Be creative!
